The interface does not only allow the user to connect the widget (respectively its CV) to an external MIDI controller, one may also select between an in-/decremental mode (endless mode) or for receiving absolute values (0-127). If the ID (source) of a specific device is needed the user may initialize MIDI first and the drop-down menu “select device port…” will fill up with possible sources of MIDI. Selecting one of them will fill the correspondant ID into the field “source”. The “L” button enables a learn-functionality – move a slider on your MIDI device and it should be connected (initializing MIDI ahead from connecting not necessary).
